IGF-1 LR3
IGF-1 LR3 is a modified insulin-like growth factor with reduced IGFBP binding affinity, resulting in increased biological potency for IGF-1 receptor signaling research. It is widely used in cell culture studies and receptor-mediated proliferation pathway investigations. For research purposes only.

Research Overview
IGF-1 LR3 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 Long Arg3) is an 83-amino acid synthetic analog of human IGF-1. The "Long" designation refers to a 13-amino acid N-terminal extension, and "R3" indicates an arginine substitution at position 3. These modifications dramatically reduce IGF-1 LR3's binding affinity for IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs), resulting in significantly greater bioavailability and biological potency compared to native IGF-1.
Mechanism of Action
IGF-1 LR3 binds to the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) with comparable affinity to native IGF-1 but circulates as primarily unbound peptide due to its reduced IGFBP affinity. Upon IGF-1R binding, it activates the PI3K/Akt and Ras/MAPK signaling cascades, promoting cellular proliferation, differentiation, and survival (anti-apoptosis). Its extended half-life (~20+ hours vs. ~15 minutes for native IGF-1) makes it a powerful research tool for sustained IGF axis stimulation.
Experimental Applications
Used in cell culture proliferation assays, muscle satellite cell differentiation studies, hyperplasia and hypertrophy models, glucose uptake investigations, cancer biology research (IGF-1R pathway), and comparative pharmacology studies against native IGF-1 and insulin.

Reconstitution Guidelines
Reconstitute with 0.1M acetic acid or bacteriostatic water. Inject slowly along the vial wall. Gently swirl — do not shake (protein may denature). Recommended: 1 mL per vial. Aliquot into single-use portions if possible. Store at 2–8°C. Use within 21 days.
